Miss Jenna
Lafferty, graduating senior from Freeport High School, was the 2016 Freeport
Lions Club $1,000 Scholarship Award Winner, and plans to attend Highland
Community College majoring in the studies needed to pursue a medical degree to
become a physician.
Jenna is the daughter of Mrs. Laurie Lafferty,
a teacher in the Freeport School District.
The scholarship money will be awarded in two
$500 increments after successful completion of two college semesters.
From applications the club received, hers was selected
as the most deserving based on her many humanitarianism, leadership and
community service experiences as well as her rank among her peers.
Lion Joe Serafini, FLC Secretary, presented the
award during the latter part of May.
