FINAL UPDATE: FHN EYEGLASS COLLECTION PROJECT

Kimberly Wichman hands over 77 Pairs of glasses, two loose lenses and $47.00 in cash to Lion Roland Caruso. A grand effort!

KUDOS! to the FHN employees and medical staff at FHN Memorial Hospital, Family Healthcare Centers on Burchard Hills Drive and Highland View Drive, and the FHN Family Counseling Center on West Exchange street in downtown Freeport IL.

The Freeport Lions Club blog on October 19, 2016, reported that our club initiated a used eyeglass collection project at four Freeport Health Network locations with drop-off bins available from Monday October 17th through Friday, October 28th.

FHN Human Resources Department, who monitored the event, rewarded used eyeglass donors with a “DENIM DAY” sticker that allowed them to “dress down” on October 28th and wear blue jeans to work.
Results: 77 pairs of glasses, 2 loose lenses, $47 in cash donations.

Kimberly Wichman and Len Carter, FHN HR Dept., said they are looking forward to doing this project again in 2017.

A big “Thank You” to all FHN employees who participated in this event.
Lions clean and sort used eyeglasses by prescription, and then distribute them internationally to those who need but cannot afford/do not have access to prescription eyewear.
