Rosa Solis,
seventh grader from Carl Sandburg Middle
School, Freeport IL is the Freeport Lions Club 2016 Peace Poster Contest
Winner.
The theme of the 2016-17 Peace Poster Contest is "A Celebration of Peace."
Students, ages 11, 12 or 13 on November 15, are eligible to participate.
As our club has done in the past, we approached Freeport middle schools and The Boys and Girls Club earlier this year to encourage participation in this annual, worldwide competition.
Winners selected locally advance to district, state, national and finally worldwide competition until one winner is chosen by Lions Clubs International.
For more than 25 years, millions of children from nearly 100 countries have participated in the contest.
Each poster is judged on originality, artistic merit and expression of the theme.
At the international level, judges from the art, peace, youth, education and media communities select one grand prize winner and 23 merit award winners.
