JANUARY 10TH GUEST SPEAKER

GUEST SPEAKER & OTHER CLUB NEWS

Lion Dr. Nick Wells introduced his guest speaker, Kelly Reynolds, from Sterling Hearing Aid Center in Sterling IL.  Kelly gave a very informative presentation on the need for better hearing regardless of age, and some of the costs associated with improving one's hearing.

Kelly also spoke about the only USA company, Starkey Technologies in Minneapolis, MN, that makes hearing aids and helps hearing impaired people in the U.S. and in 3rd world countries. You can "LIKE" Starkey on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/StarkeyCares

Many thanks to Kelly Reynolds for giving her time and valuable information unselfishly to our club, and to Dr. Nick Wells for arranging this event.

NEWS & VIEWS

We had a terrific turnout for the January 10, 2017, meeting with 17 Club Members and 2 guests!

Members were sad to learn that Past Club President Lion Bert Kersten and his wife Linda are moving very soon to Crossville, Tennessee, at the end of this month! Bert said they were surprised that they sold their Freeport home in 10 days! We members appreciate all that Lion Bert has done for our club. He was presented a 100% President Award Certificate for his 2015-2016 efforts as Club President by a special guest at our meeting, Past District Governor, Gary Meyers. We all, even Lion snowbirds and at-large members, wish Lion Bert and his wife, Linda, the best in their new life chapter!

If you missed the January 10th meeting and want to attend the Zone Meeting on January 30th Forreston IL, please notify 2016-2017 Club President, Brian Burke, AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. Lion Brian needs a headcount to advise our Zone Chairman.

A Club Scrapbook of history and accomplishments is currently being worked on by Lion Joe Serafini. He will bring his project bring to future meetings, so arrive early during “social time” to review this work in progress.

FYI – If any member has any questions or comments on the newsletter, minutes, our online blog or Facebook postings, if you'd like to see more, less or in a different format, let Lion Joe Serafini know your thoughts. All suggestions and ideas are welcome.

The Freeport, Illinois, Lions Club and Union Dairy are sponsoring their 4th Annual "CRUISIN FOR A CAUSE" Car Show on May 4th.
