80th Year Celebrated
At
their April 12th dinner/business meeting, Freeport Lions Club members
celebrated their 80th year of serving
the Freeport Community. Dessert was a large “We Serve” cake baked and decorated
by Mary Jane Zimmerman, wife of Lion
Member, Dennis Zimmerman. The club
was chartered on April 7, 1936.
For 80+ years, the Freeport Lions Club has continued
to provide services for vision- and hearing-impaired individuals of all ages,
as well as support many other projects specific to the needs of the Freeport
community, such as scholarships, school supplies, music and art education, recreation
areas and youth sports.
A big “THANK
YOU” to the Freeport community who support and participate in our fundraising
activities such as our “Say Cheese” sales, Rose Days, Diabetes Awareness Days,
Candy Days, Cruisin for a Cause car show, or simply drop a few coins into the
many mint trays that can be found in city-wide food and drink establishments.
Citizens who donate to these local activities
allow the Freeport Lions Club to continue to be an active force for good in the
community. Thanks again. You make us proud!
